Alice – 16 years old – Belgium
Semester program
My name is Alice, and I live in Belgium with my parents, my older brother, my dog, and my cat. I’m very close to my family and I love animals. At home, we speak Dutch, but I have a good level of English and a basic knowledge of French. I’m an empathetic, independent, sensitive, and observant person, always ready for a new adventure. I’m shy at first, but once I feel comfortable with someone, I become very sociable and outgoing.
My favorite activities are jogging, cooking, working out, and going out with friends. I’m also part of a scout group. I love music and going to concerts. I listen to many artists like Taylor Swift, Gracie Abrams, and others. I also love to travel.
I’m really looking forward to coming to Quebec to take on new challenges and grow as a person. I’m especially excited to meet you and make friends. I hope to learn about your culture and immerse myself in Quebec life. I also want to improve my French.

Hello to my future host family!
My name is Hjalmar, and I’ll be coming to Canada for a year. I consider myself more passionate about arts and culture than sports. I’ve been playing the violin for several years, I love anything related to science, and I also enjoy playing video games.
At school, I’ve learned to be independent since I’m currently attending boarding school. Autonomy is second nature to me! I also enjoy being involved in the student government and various committees.

Linus – 16 years old – Germany
Semester program
My name is Linus. I live in Germany with my parents and younger sister. I have many hobbies: I enjoy reading, singing in my school choir, and playing various sports. However, I am particularly fond of practicing a martial art called Bujinkan and, more recently, ballroom dancing. My family and friends say I am a calm and thoughtful boy, loyal in friendship, always ready to help others, and with a good sense of humor.
I chose Quebec to improve my French and to experience a place where winter is quite long. Will we go skiing together or try other winter sports? They say there are many in Canada. I am really looking forward to meeting you and settling into this new life with you all. So, see you soon!
Romy – 15 years old – Germany

Hello everyone. My name is Romy. I live in Germany with my parents and younger brother. I’m a pretty cheerful young woman. I love life and I love to laugh. I always prefer to be active rather than passive. I feel good with my family and friends. I’m a fairly flexible vegetarian. I eat fish and I’m willing to make the necessary effort to live well with you.
I play the piano and the violin, but I know how to be careful not to disturb others. I play in my school orchestra and I had the opportunity to moderate our last concert. I also love to dance. I practice modern dance, line dancing, and ballroom dancing. Finally, I like to read a little before going to sleep at night.
I’m very interested in having this intercultural experience in your country. I dream of learning about your daily life, even if, at first, I’ll probably make a few funny mistakes in French. I am very much looking forward to meeting you.
Adam – 16 years old – Denmark

Greetings from Rungsted, Denmark. I’m Adam, I’m 16 years old, and I live with my parents and my 11-year-old sister. I have an older sister who is 32 and now lives in Copenhagen. You could say I’m a passionate person. I play several sports, including soccer, boxing, skiing, and I go to the gym. I also enjoy reading and cooking. I’m open to trying new foods.
My teachers say I’m a serious and resilient boy. They note that I’m sociable and enjoy making friends. My family says I find some rules strict, but I respect them. I’m calm and, in a conflict, I’m open to discussion.
Why Quebec? My grandfather worked in Canada for eight years. He often told me about the landscapes, the wildlife, and the welcoming people. And Quebec is my destination of choice. I see it as a culture that respects tradition and others. A place where you can enjoy long outdoor hikes and skiing, as well as learn French. Everything I could want, in short. Looking forward to meeting you there.
Zoe – 17 years old – Italy

My name is Zoe, and I’m from Italy. My parents and friends describe me as independent, energetic, cheerful, and outgoing. My family is very important to me, and as an only child, I’m very close to my parents, even though they’re separated.
At school, I’m a good student and I really enjoy getting good grades. My favorite subjects are Italian literature and history. In the future, I hope to work in a field that will allow me to travel. In my free time, I’m often with my friends. I like to dance, relax at home, and watch movies or TV series.
I’m really looking forward to arriving in Quebec to meet new people and discover a new culture. I also hope to improve my French and English. I’m especially excited to meet my host family and spend time with them.

Gemma – 16 years old – Italy

Salut, je suis Gemma et je viens de l’Italie! Je suis une personne très extravertie, toujours active ainsi que déterminée et ambitieuse: j’essaie toujours de donner le meilleur de moi-même. Ma vie est bien remplie, que ce soit avec l’école et les concours de maths qu’avec mes entraînements de patin à roulettes de vitesse. J’aime aussi énormément la course, les romans policiers, cuisiner (ma spécialité est le tiramisù!) et les jeux de société.
Je suis proche de ma famille, particulièrement de mon frère. Le souper est pour nous un moment précieux où nous retrouver et connecter ensemble après notre journée.
Je voyage énormément avec ma famille: nous avons vécu deux mois à Madrid et nous avons visité Londres, Paris, Budapest, Berlin… J’adore apprendre de nouvelles choses et découvrir de nouvelles cultures. Je suis donc incroyablement curieuse et impatiente de pouvoir vivre un échange étudiant unique!
