AFS today

AFS is an inclusive community of global citizens committed to building a fairer and more peaceful world. We believe that understanding, valuing, and respecting different cultures, and mastering global skills, are the key ingredients to helping the world learn to live together better.

AFS is an intercultural education organization that offers school exchange programs, and much more!

  • AFS offers innovative training programs abroad and exchange programs for teenagers and adults (Sentio programs).
  • Our programs include innovative intercultural learning pathways for teenagers, host families, volunteers, and staff. AFS Sentio includes an intercultural skills certification program. These structured learning programs are customized for each group and supported by curricula developed by leading experts and educators worldwide.
  • AFS is a leading advocate for intercultural learning and global citizenship education. We have a consultative partnership with UNESCO and work closely with numerous national, international, peace, education, and humanitarian organizations.

Members of the extended AFS family know how much we value volunteers and host families. Without their commitment and passion, AFS would not be the organization we are today. But did you know that there are other ways to get involved, depending on your time, schedule, interests, and professional expertise? Even a small gesture can make a big difference…
