Go on a trip for a year, a semester, or a trimester and attend a high school in your host community. You'll live with a family selected by AFS for an unforgettable immersion experience.
AFS offers training, orientation, and activities before, during, and after your stay, and you'll meet young people from all over the world!
The school year runs from late January to early December, with classes from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. Three two-week vacations take place in April, July, and September, and summer lasts seven weeks. A uniform is mandatory and the participant's responsibility.
You will choose your subjects, ranging from the classics (English, math, science) to electives such as tourism, agriculture, or catering. All schools also offer activities: sports, Maori cultural clubs, choir, orchestra, or theater.
AFS helps people of all ages and backgrounds develop the knowledge, skills, and understanding needed to connect with diverse people, succeed in a global environment, and contribute to a positive impact on the world.
