Participants must be between 15 and a half and 18 years old at the start.
Go on a trip for a year, a semester, or a trimester and attend a high school in your host community. You'll live with a family selected by AFS for an unforgettable immersion experience.
AFS offers training, orientation, and activities before, during, and after your stay, and you'll meet young people from all over the world!
Latvian is the official language, written in the Latin alphabet, while 40% of the population speaks Russian as their mother tongue, in the Cyrillic alphabet.
Young people live with Latvian families and attend schools in their family language. You will likely learn both Latvian and Russian. The families' social backgrounds are diverse.
L’année scolaire en Lettonie va du 1er septembre à juin, avec cours du lundi au vendredi de 8h30 à 15h, divisée en deux semestres et des vacances en octobre, à Noël et en été.
Les matières incluent letton ou russe, littérature, histoire, langues étrangères, maths et sport. Des options comme géographie, informatique, musique ou psychologie sont aussi proposées.
