You’ll spend a year, semester, or trimester attending high school in your host community. A carefully selected AFS host family will welcome you for a truly immersive and memorable experience.
AFS provides training, orientation, and activities before, during, and after your stay. You’ll meet young people from around the world.
All Panamanian schools require uniforms, costing about \$70. The school year runs from March to mid-December and is divided into four terms. Classes start at 7:00 a.m. with a noon lunch break. Lessons are mainly lecture-based, with frequent homework and a daily schedule covering various subjects.
Students often form small study or social groups, especially on weekends, as weekdays are focused on schoolwork. Being serious about your studies makes it easy to integrate and connect with others.
AFS helps people of all ages and backgrounds develop the knowledge, skills, and understanding needed to connect with diverse people, succeed in a global environment, and contribute to a positive impact on the world.
