Bursaries and Participation Fees

Bursaries are available to participants enrolled in an AFS program, whose application has been accepted by the AFS Canada office, whose participation agreement has been signed and who have paid the $750 deposit. Participants must also meet the admission criteria of the host countries and have a real financial need.

• Fill out the application form and pay the $75 fee. The file opening form is available here
• Complete your application on our online application platform once the file opening form has been received
• Ensure that you complete and submit all the information requested in the “additional forms” tab while filling out your online application
• Pay the $750 admission fee and send the signed participation agreement when accepted by AFS Canada
• Submit your application before the application deadline for bursaries

• Students who wish to apply for the 10 Lives to Change Bursary must complete and submit their application by the 13th of January 2020
• Summer departures (June, July, August or September, depending on the destination): February 1st 2020
• Winter departures (January, February or March, depending on the destination): August 1st 2020

Yes, the AFS  Interculture Canada Foundation offers bursaries every year. The total amount of bursaries allocated each year varies according to the availability of resources. Participants may apply for a bursary only during the selection process prior to their departure.

The probability of obtaining a bursary depends on the financial need of the participant, the energy expended on the fundraising campaign and the overall quality of the application. We are making great efforts to help people who want to go abroad to realize their dreams. In order to benefit from our financial support, the applicant must meet all our selection criteria.

The care you take in your application is important. The selection committee will be influenced by how you demonstrate your motivation and by your letters of recommendation.

Bursaries are only applicable for:

– One-year school programs
– Semester school programs
– Trimester school programs

Bursaries are not applicable for:

– Short Summer programs
– Sentio (18+) programs
